October – British Month begins

2 Oct

I realised that I hadn’t posted a menu shot for a while, so here is the first week of our British eats. Please post any suggestions of things you think we should make as comments -puddings and mains welcome! Recipes would also be cool!

So we started the month with a yummy meal out in Montgomery, home made savoury scone for me, sausage roll with black pudding for Mr M. British cafe culture, awesome. Topped with a massive slice of homemade carrot cake (with nice crunchy pumpkin seeds on the frosting, try it, it really works)!

For dinner on October 1st we went for another British classic. A BBQ, butchers sausages, burgers, minted lamb and the not so traditional halloumi, falafel, veg skewers and corn on the cob. A fitting meal for the hottest October on record, just a shame that the nights are now drawing in so we were cooking in the dark from 7 onwards. On the plus side the beautiful clear, light pollution free skies meant we saw plenty of stars and satellites.

Sun breakfast, bacon butty with tomato ketchup. Carrying on with a whirlwind tour of Brit classics we indulged in fish and chips for tea. Vinegar soused chips with, crunchy battered fish and more ketchup. Nom. Going native rocks!
