Today’s meal managed an 8.5 out of 10 score which is pretty good, especially when it was nice and easy to make.
Some frozen white fish went into the oven and was ignored for a while. In the meantime an accompaniment of noodles was prepared. Some chopped yellow, orange and green peppers we keep in the freezer and some frozen soy beans were heated in the wok with some soy, rice wine and yellow bean paste. To this was added some ‘straight to wok’ type noodles.
When the fish was nearly ready, another frying pan was used to make the sauce. Szechuan peppercorns were fried in hot oil, followed by one star anise and a couple of fresh green chillies. Several slices of bacon, which had been chopped into small pieces were then fried till brown. More rice wine and the juice of a lemon added some liquids to the sauce which was then poured over the fish.
Nice and simple and very tasty.
