Goan Fish Curry

Three bowls of orangey Goan Fish Curry

 

Following from yesterday’s prawny goodness, another fish dish – this time cooked by Mr Magpie.

Today was Goan Fish Curry, scoring 7.5 out of 10 according to Mrs M. A combination of several spices including one red chilli and some mustard seeds, coconut milk and ‘white fish’. I think this was coley though I didn’t really read the label before putting it in!

Somehow, despite the massive spices purchase of several days ago, we didn’t have the garam masala required on the recipe, but I don’t think the lack of this extra bit of spice was really missed.

The dish was nicely spicy, with the chilli, seven cloves of garlic and a small amount of ginger and black pepper. Some bland chickpeas and cous cous helped balance out the dish, in case the spices and chilli turned out to be too much. Mrs M’s one criticism was that the fish had fallen apart into small pieces, but that didn’t bother me too much. All in all, a nice fish curry – not too spicy, not too fishy.
